Pure Spirits
Pure Spirits is an Icelandic distillery located in Borgarnes and closely associated with the Reykjavík Spirits portfolio. Reykjavík Spirits has marketed a broad range of Icelandic spirits, including vodka, gin, rum, schnapps, bitter and, historically, aquavit under the Reykjavík Ákavíti name.
Reykjavík Spirits describes Pure Spirits as Iceland’s oldest and longest-operating distillery. According to the company, the Borgarnes facility produces more than twenty brands, with the oldest brand associated with the distillery dating back more than 80 years.
Pure Spirits has also served as a production and bottling site for other Icelandic spirits companies. In 2014, Icelandic reporting documented that Foss Distillery’s Björk and Birkir products were produced and bottled at Pure Spirits in Borgarnes, demonstrating the distillery’s role in contract manufacturing as well as its own production.
The Reykjavík Spirits business uses Víkurhvarf 3, 203 Kópavogur as its commercial address, while the associated distilling operation is located in Borgarnes. The current official product range includes vodka, gin, rum, schnapps and bitter, while Reykjavík Ákavíti does not currently appear on the company’s published product list.
