Bochumer Spirituosenmanufaktur Vorberg

Bochumer Spirituosenmanufaktur Vorberg is a traditional, family-run distillery and spirit retailer based in Bochum, Germany.

The history of the Vorberg family in spirits goes back to 1923, when the very first home-style liqueurs and schnapps were created in Hiltrop-Bergen.

Since then, the distillery has evolved through generations, and today the business is managed by the fourth generation.

Vorberg’s philosophy emphasizes regional character and handcrafted quality. Their product range includes herbal liqueurs, aquavit, schnapps and other spirits - often inspired by local tradition.

Among their best-known products is the “Alt Bochumer Original” herbal liqueur, crafted from a blend of 31 herbs - a testament to their long-standing expertise in herbs and spices.

Another notable spirit in their lineup is the "Bochumer Stadtbrand 1517", a potato-based schnapps revived under its historic name - produced in small quantities and bottled with care, often stored in handmade glazed stoneware jugs as part of its traditional appeal.

What makes Vorberg unique is the combination of heritage, small-batch production, and strong ties to its Ruhr-area roots: rather than mass production, the company prefers artisanal methods, manual bottling and regional distribution - preserving the identity and spirit of their home region.
