Wintermoon Barrel-Aged Aquavit is a limited single-barrel expression created by Bluewater Organic Distilling (Everett, Washington). It is crafted from the distillery’s signature Wintersun Organic Aquavit and represents a modern interpretation of Nordic barrel-aging traditions.

Production and Aging

Wintermoon begins with Wintersun Organic Aquavit, first distilled in Bluewater’s hand-hammered copper kettles. The spirit is then aged for one year in a former bourbon barrel, allowing the oak to soften the profile and enrich the aromatics.

Context and Inspiration

Wintermoon is designed as an homage to Nordic aquavit barreling traditions and also serves as a follow-up to Bluewater’s earlier Wizard Barrel-Aged Aquavit – the expedition cask that survived a winter season in the Bering Sea aboard the king crab vessel Wizard from Deadliest Catch.
