Stein Eriksen 52 Aquavit – 2019 Edition
Park City, Utah, USA
The first batch of Stein Eriksen 52 Aquavit was produced by Alpine Distilling in collaboration with Stein Eriksen Lodge. A total of 200 bottles were released, and this limited edition marked the beginning of the project. The aquavit was introduced to the public on December 15, 2019, a day dedicated to honoring the legacy of Norwegian skier Stein Eriksen. Stein Eriksen Lodge, which carries his name, reflects his long association with the resort, where he worked for many years and became a symbol of Deer Valley’s skiing culture.
The production was based on Utah-grown Winter Wheat and 2-Row barley, which were mashed, fermented, and distilled. The spirit was then transferred to a barrel for aging, bottled, and delivered to Stein Eriksen Lodge.
The flavor profile was shaped by components including European caraway seeds, Moroccan orris root, Egyptian coriander, Indian cumin, and American orange peel. The aquavit was characterized by its “liquid gold” color and a complex aroma. It was described as suitable for enjoying chilled on its own or in signature cocktails served at the Glitretind restaurant in Deer Valley.
After all 200 bottles were used, the barrel from the first batch was passed on to Red Rock Brewing, which produced a special beer aged in that same barrel.
