Nordische Reinheit Aquavit is produced by the 1ste Rügener Edeldestillerie in Lieschow on the island of Rügen (Germany), a distillery best known for its organic fruit brandies. In 2018, the company introduced a gin and an aquavit under the label “1ste Nordische Reinheit”, expanding its product line with spirits rooted in traditional northern European styles.

The aquavit is based on a formulation built around caraway and other traditional botanicals associated with Nordic Kümmel-style spirits. After distillation, it is rested on French oak to round and stabilize the aromatic profile. This maturation step contributes a light wood influence while maintaining the characteristic caraway-led structure.

The producers emphasize a straightforward, craft-oriented approach: high-quality base alcohol, classic botanicals, and controlled extraction and distillation techniques. Nordische Reinheit Aquavit is positioned as a traditional northern digestif, shaped by regional practices and complemented by moderate oak ageing.
