The spirit was produced during the period when C. W. Tasche operated its distillery and liqueur factory in Steinhagen, a town historically associated with juniper-based spirits and the production of Steinhäger. Silber-Frost is now a historical, discontinued expression from the company’s former spirits range.

C. W. Tasche was a historic distillery and liqueur producer in Steinhagen, Westphalia. The business was founded by Carl Wilhelm Tasche in 1888 and became one of the numerous distilling enterprises associated with Steinhagen’s important spirits industry. By the beginning of the twentieth century, C. W. Tasche was already documented as a producer of Steinhäger, and an official international exhibition catalogue listed the company among the Steinhagen juniper-spirit producers.
Historical trade records list the firm as C. W. Tasche Brennerei u. Likörfabrik in 1902, 1906, 1909 and 1920. In 1922, the enterprise was converted into C. W. Tasche Aktiengesellschaft, and it continued to be listed as a distillery and liqueur factory in subsequent decades. The company was later taken over by members of the Niederstadt family, while the historic C. W. Tasche name was retained and the business was expanded.
C. W. Tasche continued operating in Steinhagen for much of the twentieth century. A cooperation with Coop Hamburg began in 1969, and in 1977 the Steinhagen production site was sold to May-Werke of Erftstadt. The company’s seat was subsequently transferred to Hamburg under the name C. W. Tasche GmbH. In 1985, the former Steinhagen production site passed into the ownership of König & Schlichte.
