FREEsia AQUA is a German aquavit produced by I.W. Wolff (Leer, Lower Saxony). The spirit follows the Northern European aquavit tradition and is also related to the style known locally as “Köm” in the northern regions of Germany.
The recipe includes sea buckthorn, a plant typical of the North Sea coast. It adds a distinct fruity acidity and complements the classic spiced profile of aquavit. According to the producer, the result is a balanced spirit with a layered aromatic character.
In 2020, FREEsia AQUA received a Silver Medal at the Meininger International Spirits Award.
Recommended to be served well chilled.

About the producer
I.W Wolff GmbH & Co. KG
Leer, Lower Saxony, Germany
I.W. Wolff is a family-owned company based in Leer, East Frisia, with a history dating back to 1800. Now in its seventh generation, the business is run by the Wolff family and combines long-standing regional traditions with modern production methods. The historic headquarters in Leer’s old town remains the center of both wine trading and spirits production.
Alongside its role as a wine merchant with extensive cellar facilities, I.W. Wolff produces a wide range of spirits under the I.W. Wolff Spirituosen label. Many recipes have been used for decades and are still produced in-house using selected raw materials, herbal extracts, and distillates. Key stages such as blending, filtering, analysis, and bottling take place in Leer.
While bottling is largely automated, elements of the finishing process, including labeling and bottle decoration, are still done by hand. The portfolio focuses on regional North German and East Frisian styles, reflecting local drinking traditions.
