KÜSTENBUDDEL Aquavit is a Kümmel-based spirit sold under the Küstenbuddel brand and produced by Elbschluck Liköre und Spirituosen (Horst, Schleswig-Holstein). The product is bottled at 32% vol and is officially labeled as an “Aquavit Likör”, which means it does not meet the EU definition of aquavit (minimum 37.5% vol and produced by flavouring ethyl alcohol with caraway or dill). For this reason, despite the name, it cannot be classified as a true aquavit.

The spirit features an intense caraway profile and is positioned within Küstenbuddel’s line of coastal-themed beverages associated with North Sea and Baltic Sea regional identity. The brand emphasizes maritime nostalgia-sea air, coastal landscapes, and local culinary traditions – as part of its presentation. Küstenbuddel also markets other northern German specialties such as gin, licorice liqueur, and Kümmel under the same label.
