Usedom Aquavit
Mölschow, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany
Usedom Aquavit is the first aquavit produced on the island of Usedom, created by the Usedom Distillery (USEDOM-Destillerie). The spirit is presented as a North German “Köm” — a traditional caraway-based distillate – crafted with a focus on clean flavor and copper-still quality.
The distillery emphasizes that the aquavit is made on a modern copper setup, following the principle that “copper can only be replaced by more copper”. With the help of master distiller Philipp Schwarz, they developed a spirit described as powerful in flavor yet mild in the finish. It is intended to be enjoyed ice-cold on its own, but also works well in mixed drinks, including the Norwegian-style Bloody Mary variation.
Usedom Aquavit became publicly available in October 2020, when the distillery announced it could be tasted and purchased on-site.
