Gylden Akvavit is a German golden aquavit bottled at 40% vol. in a 700 ml format. The current retail version is described as finely spiced, with a pronounced herbal and caraway character. Its golden colour is produced with caramel colouring, rather than serving as evidence of barrel maturation. The 2023 IWSC entry for Gylden likewise classifies the spirit as unaged / not applicable for ageing.

Gylden achieved its most significant international recognition in 2017, when it was entered by Pabst & Richarz Vertriebs GmbH and received Gold Outstanding together with the IWSC Aquavit Trophy. The judges described a medium-golden aquavit with prominent caraway, alongside floral, green-apple and spicy notes.

The product has remained in circulation well beyond that award-winning release. It received another IWSC Gold in 2023, when the tasting panel again found a strongly caraway-led profile, with additional impressions of mint, dill, lime leaf and warm spices. Those notes document the sensory profile rather than a complete ingredient list, and the full botanical recipe has not been disclosed.

The commercial association of Gylden has changed over time. IWSC documentation identifies Pabst & Richarz Vertriebs GmbH with the product in 2017 and again in one 2018 tasting document, while another 2018 publication lists Engelstad Spirits AS and the 2023 entry is under Uwe Müller GmbH & Co. KG. This suggests that distribution, brand ownership or production arrangements changed between releases, although the precise sequence has not been publicly documented.
