POTT.STIL Aquavit
Neukirchen-Vluyn, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany
POTT.STIL Aquavit is produced from caraway seed, dill seed, and several additional botanicals that are macerated in highly concentrated neutral alcohol and distilled slowly over a large copper aroma still. The spirit’s dark color comes solely from a three-month maturation period in toasted mulberry-wood casks of about 20 liters.
A notable feature of this aquavit is the mandatory Rhine crossing during maturation. Each cask is transported from Neukirchen-Vluyn to Orsoy, taken across the Rhine by ferry to Walsum, and returned to Orsoy before bottling at the POTT.STIL distillery.
The nose shows sweet, soft caraway notes, hints of dill, and the peppery, warm wood character of the mulberry cask. On the palate, the aquavit is mild and balanced, with clear caraway and dill aromas, supported by gentle pepper and wood tones and a long, spicy finish.
Small batch of 52 bottles.
